Been using a wireless keyboard with my PC for about a year. Worked fine this morning. This afternoon it will not connect with the PC. Changed the batteries (obvious first move since it has never needed a battery change before). Still no workee!
Checked gizmo that plugs into PC to receive signal from keyboard ~ blue lights indicate it is working.
Cleaned out all tobacco and crumbs .... Still no workee.
Been using laptop all afternoon.
Any ideas?
Yes I had thought of buying a new one as they are less than £20 but can't be arsed to go out nor to reconfigure new one when it arrives.
Yes I did keep the wired one when I got the wireless one.
No I can't remember where I put it. Banghead

SO how did you type that? rubschin:

On my recently purchased laptop, as I said Banghead
It is an HP Probook running Windows 7 64 bit Professional

Is it a wireless mouse and keyboard set? If so I take it the mouse is OK and would therefore assume the keyboard is knackered. Otherwise have you tried setting the laptop up with the wireless keyboard. I would guess you can as I have always used a wireless mouse on a laptop. If it works there then it's the software on the desktop.

Somebody on here said you should never get a wireless keyboard/mouse - they are shite and gobble batteries... use a set every few minutes... never touch one... the work of the devil... you can't beat a keyboard connected by wires like... that sort of thing....
If only I could remember whoo said it... rubschin:

(i) It was a gift from SWWLTBO
(ii) In similar circs you too would have felt obliged to use it
(iii) Never got the wireless mouse to work and THEY gobble up batteries.
(iv) The keyboard worked OK until today and I have been surprised at the battery life
I wish to carry on using the PC and have now dug out the old wired keyboard so razz:

It could be there is something that is interfering with the signal, have you checked to see if there is a second frequency that the keyboard and mouse can be set to.

No ... I have dug the PC out of its little cubbyhole in the desk, removed all hardware connected with the operation of the wireless keyboard and binned the lot. Then I reconnected my clunky old wired keyboard, put the PC tower back in the cubbyhole and switched on.
As you can now see the old clunky is werking. cloud9:
Oh ~ and so is the keyboard.
