Events are being held in London to mark the start of the 2012 Olympic Games in one year's time.

I fear the unbelievable hysteria and completely OTT hype will only be getting werser before it gets betterer.
All these planks that have been spending hours on end applying for tickets and are npw whinging and whining 'cus they haven't got them. Crease me they do., ballbags.lol:

Whatever the naysayers think, the Olympics are a major world cultural and sporting event. We have it this time and judging by the current state of preparation it will be a triumph for London and the UK. Ticket sales, although they may have been handled better, are well oversubscribed, all the the major venues are finished and ready for testing. Then there's the park and surrounding infrastructure including Anish Kapoor's tower, all worth a visit even if you cannot get in an event. I would also expect Team GB will get more more medals than they did at Beijing.

It's so easy to sit on the sidelines, being negative and carping. Try being a bit positive and get into the spirit of it all. You never know, you may enjoy it.
