Title: Double glazing salesmen
Post by: Uncle Mort on September 17, 2011, 03:56:01 PM
I'm trying to get a couple of quotes for a sliding patio door. Bog standard white, nothing fancy so you think that the cost would be readily available.

I've only been able to get one company to quote over the phone, everyone else wants to send someone round. I know what means and I'm not prepared to have my time wasted by someone trying to give me the hard sell.

I've Just put the phone down on the latest one ~ smarmy bastard.  cussing:

We had the same problem here.  We wanted 2 windows replaced. I had people calling me for weeks.

One local bloke came round and measured up told us he would email the quote by the next day.  It did not turn up he called to find out our decision when we told him the email had not arrived he was most indignant and accusatory.  noooo:

One bloke turned up half an hour late and had obviously just had a fag in his car, we gave him ten minutes and during that time he kept us that we couldn't possibly have what we wanted. We asked him to leave.  He objected but left, within five minutes his boss was on the phone to us.

You have my sympathy Uncle. happy100

BM and JOM you are both incorrigible. lol:

I invited a twat to come 'round to Growler Towers a few years ago to giz a quote for block paving my runway/car park/sales plot. Never actually got a figure off him, he just said I'll post it to you, oh, and btw, have you actually won the lottery...chortle chortle chortle?
I was too gobsmacked by his sheer arrogance to actually retort. eeek:

Never actually received the quote either.
I always give him the  Finger: every time I see him driving 'round in his scabby van now/ cloud9:

I used a local tradesman. Forget the big companies, get a local builder to do the job.
My man had a local company make the windows to order and fitted them himself. Saved me £ks!
5 large old windows removed and double glazed ones fitted in a week for £1500. Double glazing companies quoted me £3,700 to £9,000.
One man business = No VAT too.

If you ever make contact with this type of trade you have them for life. We had our house double glazed by Anglian about 3 years ago, they are on the blower every week trying to sell us everything from new driveway to turning my garage into an extra room. Same with British Gas, they now want us to by insurance on our plumbing and electrical and they dont seem to understand the words ''Feck off and leave me alone you annoying bastards'' cussing:
