We had to leave here just after eight this morning to get to a horspickle appointment. We listened to local radio BBC Radio Sheffield in order to avoid any traffic problems.
The breakfast show is presented by a tosser (of the highest order) who goes by the name of Toby Foster. On hearing his xenophobic and racist comments about New Zealand and Asians I was almost incandescent with rage. Not something that happens that often.
On arriving home I went on line to get a contact number for radio Sheffield. I called the number for programme issues, it rang out, I called the general enquires number to be told that the other number was no longer in use.
I then called the police none emergency number. (101)
Me: I want to know how I go about bringing a prosecution for racism
Miss 101: Can you tell me the nature of the complaint
Me: yes
Long pause....
Miss 101: Are you still there
Me: Yes
Miss 101: What is the nature of your complaint
Me: Toby Foster was making racist comments on the radio this morning (explained what had happened and gave her quotes)
Miss 101: You need to talk to the BBC
Me: I have
Miss 101: Racism isn't a police matter
Me: Are you seriously telling me that racism isn't a police matter
Miss 101: I could pass this onto the police but you would need an incident number
Me: Yes please do
Miss 101: Someone will call you back later.
It seems that I am not the only one who has had a surreal day.
