I too know the area well.  Used to live in Much Wenlock (two of the brats were born in Shrewsbury horspickle) and then a few years later in Clun.  Beautiful part of the country. cloud9:

Ahh, Much Wenlock - home of the original modern olympics and the Gaskell Arms! Know it well. Best mate at school (by the name of Lamputt) used to live there.

Also the "ex-out-laws" used to live in Clun. She who was convinced she ought to be obeyed (aka ex-mother-in-law) used to work in the cafe in Clun Valley.

We should swap notes sometime!

He's obviously got Norfolk (and the rest of the east midlands - including Nottingham- in mind) rather than the delightful county of Salop (Shropshire to the rest of you)!

Ooh, can I join in. I lived in nearby Telford 1984-89, didn't like Telford but so many wonderful places nearby.

Two other claims to fame for Much Wenlock, when John Cleese is knocking hell out of the phone box in Clockwise, the phone box is in Much Wenlock, and, Gabrielle Drake also use to live in The Priory there

The only thing to commend Birmingham, imo, is the motorway network allowing rapid departure from it!
