That's damn nearly a whole roll of duct tape there. Have they any idea of the amount of greenhouse gas produced to make duct tape?

I was reading some replies on a msg board the other day and one correspondent kept on referring to duck tape  eeek:

"Blah bla blah duck tape blah bla blah duck tape blah bla blah, new roll of duck tape..."

It was developing into a rather surreal image  ;)

Can one of our rural residents shed some light on this product?

Duck tape is another French abomination.

It is made by force-feeding innocent ducks with cassettes of old Elvis songs until they excrete 8-track cartridges of the same.

In this country we tend to call it "Gaffer Tape" and in my RAF days we used miles of the stuff to patch up aircraft. In those days it was known to all as "Elephant Tape". Indeed the rolls the RAF used had a picture of an elephant (presumably demonstrating great strength) on the cardboard inner.
I have noticed that the Yanks call it Duct Tape but like you have been amused that many Brits have misheard or misunderstood this from TV news reports and think it is Duck Tape.
