Without taking it apart, the immediate 'Google' answer is 'NO'...

Hence my post....

Given that it is a diving torch rated to 200m I would have preferred not to take it all to bits and have the risk of it leaking when I put it back together again but just to send it off to Chermany and have the battery replaced.....

So, because of EU regulations my choices are to have it upgraded with a Lithium Ion battery and electronics at a charge of ~£200 or take it apart and risk it leaking the next time it is used at the cost of ~€??? for a replacement NiCad battery...

OK?

So just don't fly Quadcopter near deep water - then you won't need a diving torch to find it

(time to leg it and hide methinks)
Well, whatever, nevermind

Due to European Directive 2006/66/EC regarding the disposal of Nickel Cadmium batteries coming into force, these Batteries will no longer be available for normal use in European countries.

So, if you have a device (a diving torch for instance) that uses NiCad batteries and they have come to the end of their life it is effectively landfill.....  noooo:

So order them from outside the EU instead. You may end up paying more for shipping but at least you can still use the items that need the batteries.
