Cancelling contracts

As madam is buggering off to uni I have spent the morning trying to cancel certain contracts ( BT broadband for example ).

You can do everything else online except cancel a contract because you obviously need to have 'the conversation' with an actual person who will try and persuade you otherwise. 

But first you have to actually try and get hold of person. Again let's make this as difficult as possible so keep you on hold for 25 minutes in the hope that you will give up 

When you finally get answered and listen to the crap but are not for moving ...tell them you are giving them the required 30 days notice and tell them that you are aware you are out of contract period anyway so there should be no outstanding payments required ....what do they do 

As a valued customer that is not going to transfer the service or get someone else to take it on there will be a £31 cessation fee . For what I ask 

Someone has to disconnect the service - what press a button or flip a switch I ask
