Rural Rides
« on: October 04, 2007, 12:36:39 PM »
I have just read Richards Ingrams biography of William Cobbettt and have now just started Rural Rides by William Cobbett.

For someone who is deemed as being so influential, how come I never came across this man in any of my history lessons?

(PS I have a personal interest as I am related to Cobbett)

Fantastic book. Origin of the phrase "the Great Wen".

Started a whole genre. See also: J.B Priestley.

In answer to your question might I suggest the piss poor education system in this country that started with Harold Wilson's Govt tinkering with the thing, has grown worse during the past thirty years of "social engineering" and has only now finally been recognised by the Government who do not know how to go about correcting it
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.
