Long Walk to Freedom
« on: October 07, 2007, 03:51:31 PM »
'Bout a year or so ago somebody gave me a copy of Mandela's memoirs. I had managed to avoid it up to that point and having said "Thank You", politely ~ as my Mother taught me, I put it on a shelf and "forgot" about it.
This past couple of days, having nowt else to read, I thought I ought to give it a try ..... after all the whole world seems to worship the man, though personally I've never done so.
Kerist ~ what a self serving load of utter bollox. It reads like an application for Sainthood. The man was a fvcking terrorist when all is said and done but he can't even be honest about that.
Why don't we give them what he claims he craves. Let them go back to mud huts, bare feet, inter-tribal warfare, ignorance and dirt.............
They have in every other country we handed over to them.  angry037 This book has made me more angry than I would have thought possible. Why do people worship this b@st@rd?

Gandhi's autobiography is similarly infuriating. The man is completely blind to his own faults which leap off the page from between the lines.

This new Stephen Pinker book sounds interesting.

rubschin:
Do you mean Steven Arthur Pinker, that prominent Canadian-American experimental psychologist, cognitive scientist, and popular science writer known for his spirited and wide-ranging advocacy of evolutionary psychology and the computational theory of mind?

Personally, I've always thought he was a tosser...

 noooo:

I'd never heard of him...
