If I wanted to take my children out of school and go swanning off to Spain I'd probably get fined.

School's out for Spain training

Inset days are bad enough but this is taking the p***

According to the BBC Today Programme common sense has prevailed and the teachers junket has been cancelled "In the face of massive opposition from Parents and Local Politicians across the Area"

'Spect they'll now have to forfiet their deposits and prolly have to pay for the cancellation ~ out of school funds.

It's funny how there are never enough school funds to pay for my children's trips and extra-curricula activities. I always seem to be writing out cheques for something or the other.

I've just forked out £170 for The Boy's trip to NORTH WALES.

Worth it though for a week of peace and quiet.

Minor went to the Welsh Cub Scout Camp last year ~ held 50 miles from here and we had to transport him there and fetch him back. Camp lasted 4 days (3 nights) cost £125
Excuses = Insurances, food (1 little boy does not cost 125 quid to feed cornflakes and beefburgers to for 4 days) and (This was the real cracker) TENT HIRE! When did the Boy Scouts not have their own tents?
This year they only had a "local camp" 2 days (overnight) at the local rugby club ground. Cost £50
Excuses as above.
THW 5 day trip to Paris last year = £500  eeek:
Excuses = Insurance, Coach & Driver hire, Food. Accommodation was dormitory in a converted convent. Two of those days were spent travelling from North Wales.
From here, driving overnight, I can reach Dover in a little over 5 hours ~ done it several times. They took 9 hours because the driver has to take a break every two hours  ::)

One wonders about Trott's figures, but if it's accurate then that's £225 each.

As staff training goes that's not bad.
