The Speaker is "Concerned"

That Tony Blair may have misled MPs about the F1/Tobacco advertising business and he is planning to "look into the matter".

Gorbals Mick suspects someone has been less than honest ~ after all this time?

And if Tone did lie what are you going to do about it now that he has left the Commons?

It'll be another cover-up ~ unless you don't want your seat in the Lords Mr Speaker.

It depends Snoop, this is an opportunity for Brown to lob some flack Tony's way and take some of the pressure off himself. If he pushes for a full and open inquiry then he may also think it will make him look whiter than white.

Given that Gordo was chancellor at the time I can just see him advising Tony that scrapping the advertising from F1 would lead to lower VAT revenue from cigarettes.

They'll probably get someone with experience of Trade and Industry on an international scale to look into the matter.

Enter the Lord of Darkness himself

PS Littlejohn in the Mail refers to him as Lord Gravy of Train.

Wasnt there a comedy show on R4 a while back that used to mention a smell of sulphur whenever Mandleson appeared?  rubschin:

I'm not sure that was a comedy show.

I thought "Baroness Uphill" would have been more appropriate.

Back on topic:

Quote
A spokesman for Tony Blair said later: "There is nothing new here. All these issues were known and debated at the time, and the documents released are entirely consistent with his answers at the time."

Of course they are consistent, He lied and the documents say he lied.
