We are struggling with this but in essence think you are saying that Ceasar raised two legions in Gaul (or Wales) as these are interchangable) but could not remain and left the legions to their own devices until they were overwhelmed by the barbarians (locals presumably)

It was a straight copy from my school Latin primer which happened to be nearby.
She is a believer in translating to modern speech rather than literally and suggests that a better translation might be"The shit's hit the fan ~ time to bail out and leave the buggers to it"But then I like an "Earthy" woman.
