Pound 'buying less than a Euro'

The falling value of sterling means some people are getting less than a euro for every pound when changing money, The Observer suggests.

After commission and handling fees were charged, customers at some airports got just 197.13 euros for £200 on Saturday.

Last week sterling fell close to 1.11 euros - but the commercial rate obtained by tourists is usually lower.

Needless to say we are bringing Euros back to the UK and I bought my new Blu Ray player in Euros....

They are paying for her, not the rest of us. Incidentals (lunch, coffee, tram fares) mount up alarmingly. I have Euros with me but am working on the basis of 1:1 conversion

As for Lunches, coffees etc surely you would have those at home anyway ~ so no extra expense there.

Yes, count yourself lucky. Many Brits would have had to tire themselves out mugging old ladies and earning ASBOs to get a trip like that.

Christ you are grumpy! Mrs Nick is the only one insured for the car and has been using it for werk. The Boy and I get around on trams!

Holiday insurance more likely. If you ring up one of the large insurance companies and pretend to be Nick looking for a quote you start a mass panic in their call centre. Apparently its the financial equivalent of the 4 minute warning.
