You have to go onto the Intranet site and then raise a request for the IT dept to help you.

You would be surprised how many times this sort of thing happens.

I would go and tell the "head honcho" that the network was down - her response was usually "send an e-mail to all afftected users to let them know". My sniggering at these points in time probably didn't help with career progression...

My preferred method was to wander the floors shouting "the system is f*cked, so you may as well do your filing or the "Name Game" in the Sun."  8)
