People who feel the need to tell you their life stories
« on: May 01, 2009, 09:49:33 AM »
I have just had a surveyor come round to assess the house. I offered him a cup of tea / coffee etc as I can be hospitable when the occasion requires  it angel1

He then sat down and proceeded to launch into his life story - 52 yrs old, married late in life - 3 children , youngest 2 eldest 8. Lives in such a such place , did this , did that ....

25 minutes he sat in the chair  - yaketty yakkety yak  evil:

Why do people feel the need to bear their souls when you don't know them and are never likely to see them again. I am quite happy to talk about the weather and other inane dribble but I really don't want to know the ins and outs of your domestics.

Do your job and bog off  evil:

BTW did I mention to you the occasion of my tenth birthday, it was a warm sunny day and my mother had arranged for some of my friends to come round for tea, as I recall it was to be Deborah, Audrey, Alison and Sarah my bestest friends in all the world, except maybe for Deborah who was forever going off with Alison and that just wasn't fair as far I was concerned. I was wearing my best dress, I know that you are riveted shall I continue, wait till I get to the incident involving waxed dishes, jelly and blancmange, truly amusing I assure you....
I have always thought that the worst thing about drowning was having to call 'help!' You must look such a fool. It's put me against drowning.

Seconded...

Also, the correct response to "How are you?" is "Fine thank you".

Not a two hour long diatribe on your latest ailment or details of how the car let you down and you had to call the garage out...  noooo:

I find a better answer is "Psychopathic", followed by a long stare straight in their eyes.

Maybe you have a kind face and demeanour that encourages people to bare their souls to you, knowing that you may have the answer to all their ills, woes and global warning.. there again maybe not rubschin:
