Anyhoo, I'm asking experts like Wenchy that actually own and use the thing...

Ask an iphone dealer
I would have thought that since it is a mobile phone with added things to go wrong it will work off the existing mobile networks. Can't see you being able to install a wireless router that will reach more than 50 metres or so from her home (even mobile phone networks need transmitter stations every few kilometres surely?) ......... but what do I know?

And which bit of that did you fail to grasp?
