Snowy footprints lead to suspectsA trail of footprints in the snow has lead police officers to suspected car thieves.
Officers in south Gloucestershire were called to reports of cars being broken into in the Braemar Avenue area of Filton as the snow began to fall just after midnight on Wednesday.
A member of the public reported seeing youths tampering with cars.
The two officers followed footprints and bicycle tracks in the snow, which led them to two teenage boys and a stash of suspected stolen goods.
Officers found a laptop computer, satellite navigation system and a mobile phone in a garden.
Two boys, aged 13 and 15, were arrested and they remain in police custody.
Witnesses in Taunton, Somerset saw a man break into a car and make off on the bike with tools and a satellite navigation system.
Pc Dave Hughes, of Avon and Somerset Police, followed the tyre tracks across pavements and roads for half a mile, which led him straight to the suspect's house.
Following his arrest for theft from a motor vehicle, officers searched the man's home and found the stolen tools and satnav. Thick breath wasting bastards!
