Leaders Wives
« on: March 31, 2010, 11:24:18 AM »
Will the wife of the party leader have influence on how you cast your vote?

I heard the start of Woman's Hour this morning and Jenni Murray (Why can she not spell her name properly?) kept referring to "Samcam". She then went on to mention "Sarah Brown, wife of the Prime Minister" not, you will note, "Sarbro" and to Mrs Clegg as "Miriam Gonzalez Durantez". Apparently Ms Murray is concerned that voters are using the wives as a means of selecting who would be best PM. She claimed that Dennis Thatcher would not have tolerated this and laid the blame on Mrs Obama actively campaigning to get Old Jug Ears elected.

So what difference does the man's wife make (unless she is willing to  eyes: in return for your vote)?

Also what's with this "Samcam" nonsense? A bit more BBC "impartiality" I suppose.

It's just an easy rhyme - they can't do it with the others so they don't .

As for the leaders wives I have total respect for Miriam Durantez who I saw doing an interview last week. She basically said I am not going to be on parade to support my husbands job, I have my own career to attend to  8). She then went on to say he has her total support but she does not need to justify that to anyone else  8) 8) 8)

But does the man's selection of an attractive filly make any difference to his ability to be PM?

No. It's moved toward the American POTUS & FLOTUS obsession  noooo:

Although PMOTUK & WOTPMOTUK has an evil ring to it  eveilgrin:

What about William Hague ? - the attractive wife didn't help him become a better or more respected PM.

Carla Bruni lacks an apostrophe?  eeek:

Yes I know that Nick but I used the title deliberately and the magazines that feature "Readers Wives" don't use an apostrophe either ~ in fact if you type it into the Google search bar with an apostrophe Google asks if you mean "Readers Wives"
