Freeware that isn't
« on: July 05, 2010, 05:07:08 PM »
I hate so called Freeware ~ you know the stuff that says "developed by volunteers using open source codes" ........ Click here for FREE DOWNLOAD.

And it looks just what you need so you click to download and then click to install the bloody stuff and only then do you get an email telling you it will "self destruct unless you pay £99 in 60 days time".  Banghead

My reply to their email:

I wonder at what point I missed the bit about paying for what was described as FREE?

Count not your chickens and hold on to your "Thanks for Downloading" messages.

Now I know the costs it may well get deleted very quickly.

That's not "freeware", that's "shareware", more or less.

Similar to all the bloatware that comes installed on a new machine that's looks as though it's free.
Delete it.

You know that and I know that but they clearly said FREEWARE .... so we must assume that either they don't know the difference or they are lying ~ surely not  eeek:
