Fooking banks!!
« on: September 10, 2010, 11:26:47 AM »
I have just told First Direct to transfer a large sum of cash (£32000 to be precise) to my solicitor's account. "Yes, Mr Nick, that will be £50"  eeek:

WHY??

All transactions over 10000 incur a charge.

WHY??

They do!

Thieving bastards  cussing: cussing: cussing:

In my fury I forgot to add that I have got them to do it in 4 tranches of £8000  eveilgrin:  More work for them, no charge to me  eveilgrin:

Then there will be a fee under "Disbursements" for the solicitors (see their final account when the deal is done) who also have to pay such a fee when they in turn transfer the money on to the vendor's solicitors and so on ad infinitum. It's how they all make their money.
Annoying but part of the joy of employing such people.

Ditch 'em. Not right now, obviously, but later when all is done  evil:

They have been OK so far, and I don't often do such transactions. SO moving banks is easy and painless, is it?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

It is a right fook-about.

After trying to transfer banks it is a case of back to the shoebox of cash under the floorboards for me I can tell you.

That will be the "Telegraphic Transfer" fee - banks charge this as they themselves get charged to use the facility. However, the charge to the bank is only about £3...the rest is pure profit.

That sounds about right; £47 for the click of a mouse, or part thereof  rubschin:

Having worked for a mortgage company, I can happily confirm that the cost to US was about £3 per transaction. We charged £25.

The logic (I use the term loosely) for the vast profit was that we needed to pay staff to click the mouse button, and also to pay the license fee to use the function and also to keep the doftware updated. In reality - as I said - it cost us less than a fiver.
