There was quite a to-do about it locally ~ according to the papers.
As I recall one local politician took it very seriously, making a right prat of himself, leading Renault to question the Lancastrian sense of humour but most locals seemed to laugh it off.

No sense of humour some people Snoopy. Have to admit, I found the ads funnier when I thought Gisburn was in Yorkshire, and then I found out it was in Lancashire  redface:
