UK aid worker may have been killed by rescuers' grenade

Hardly a surprise that it is now thought that US "Special Forces" cocked it up completely. Surely that is their default mode.

 lol:

Personally I blame the fact that they all think they are fvcking John Wayne.

I met a lot of them at Brize Norton (When that was a US base) .... Totally out of control idiots who really believed that they had won WWII single handed.

Due to their being "Blacked" by the fuel delivery drivers from Avonmouth they had no go juice for their aircraft and the RAF at Lyneham were called upon to supply them using RAF drivers and fuel bowsers. I turned up as part of a convoy one day and the Yanks had over-ordered leaving themselves with nowhere to put the bloody stuff so a "Master Sergeant" instructed us to "Spray it on the grass" We did, all 7000 gallons of High Octane Aviation Spirit whilst he chewed on an unlit cigar the size of a torpedo and cheerfully signed for it on behalf of Uncle Sam. Unbelievable!

The French and Germans, on the other hand, measured whatever fuel we filled them with down to the nearest thimble full. NATO exercises ~ I hated them!

I used to have a permit to drive along the runway of a US air base,  makes it go very dark when you get the American equivalent of a Hercules following a fiesta.  scared2:

Some silly B@st@rd tried to land a Comet on my Landrover when I was cleared to drive along the runway at RAF Lyneham in '65 ...... Control Tower got their signals wrong.
Court of enquiry cleared me but the Air Traffic Controller was sent for re-training and reduced by one rank at his subsequent Court Martial. The Comet went over me at about 75 feet with afterburners full on and an awful lot of bad language over the radio as the pilot gave it full welly to gain height and miss me.  scared2:
