Lost in the translation
« on: February 16, 2011, 08:09:44 PM »
I tried to contact one of our pavement engineers today about a section of motorway that was deteriorating rapidly. He wasn't in, but a Indian sounding gentleman named Nooraj or similar said he's take some details and get him to call me.

First... Motorway carriageways are designated using the phonetic alphabet, so we generally have Alpha, Bravo, Kilo, Lima etc... sooooooooo, "Tell him I need to talk to him about a problem on the "L" Lima carriageway of the M27 at J/tion 4 ASAP"
A little later I received an email off the engineer, "Sorry I missed you earlier, Nooraj our new graduate engineer said you called and you wanted to tak about a problem with lemurs on the M27, what's going on?"   lol:
LiFe - It's an "F" in lie

I used to work with a guy called Raj Dave...

He couldn't pronounce the letter 'vee'... it came out as 'weee'...

Hearing him spell out his name on the telephone and trying to get the person on the other end to understand write it down correctly was fucking hilarious... happy001

He might have been talking about what's on BBC2 right now...

In a gentler mood than last week, we're floating though the jungles on the rain-soaked eastern side of the island, meeting lemurs along the way.
