Child Poverty
« on: April 05, 2011, 06:44:12 AM »
Another fecking government initiative to eradicate child poverty on the wireless this morning!  cussing:

How many children really live in what I would class as 'poverty' in the UK?

If they have a roof over their heads, clean drinking water, free education (with free school meals) they aint living in poverty by my measure...

I'm sure there are a small number of families that slip through the net but on the whole 99.99999% must have the minimum that I outlined above... this isn't a problem that needs ££££££££££££s of hard earned thrown at it...

And isn't 'poverty' linked to the median income anyway - so it can never be eradicated by that measure?

I had to switch the Today programme off this morning before I burst a blood vessel....  noooo:

In some parts of the world Children and for that matter Adults have no clean drinking water, no roof over their head and no education (as we know it) .... we throw £zillions at such countries and they spend it on Arming their soldiers (See India and Pakistan etc) rather than on the children. Others spend our money on Palaces for the "Leaders" and salt monies away in secret bank accounts ready for the day when they are chased out of their country.

In the UK "Child Poverty" means they don't have access to a Flat Screen TV + DVD + Sky + 'Pooter games. It means that their household doesn't have a washing machine and the family doesn't own its house or a newer than 3 year old car.

Basically the Politicians, Do Gooders and Social Workers have no idea about the real world.

Yes it boils my kidneys too BM. I also turned the wireless off.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.
