Driver killed after debris thrown from bridge
« on: July 27, 2007, 10:43:33 PM »
Terrible! This is just up the road from me. Can see that section of the A45 from my upstairs windows. What on earth were boys so young doing out and about at 4am? Wonder how the police managed to arrest them so quickly. Road was still blocked mid-morning.

This sick act is apparently all too common. I was watching a programme on TV a while ago and train drivers suffer the same attacks all the time. It is only the stupidity of the culprits that prevents more being killed.

What can possibly go through the mind of a teenager to make them want to drop bricks on a speeding car or train?

And what are the chances that the culprits have bedrooms festooned with every imaginable gadget including computers, TV, games, console, etc. yet ?have nothing to do??

I?m convinced that ?spoiling? children from an early age is the cause of many of our problems. You can?t even take a child for a meal now without them coming away with toys and balloons?

From what was said in the paper, sounds like the father of one of lads took him to the police after he came home in a state after the incident. Wondered how the police caught them so fast.

Another recent incident in the news shows how parents are facing a losing battle trying to discipline their kids. I'm referring to the mother whose child had a tantrum in a newsagents whereupon she took her out and shut her in the car then stood by the car waiting for the tantrum to stop. Some "concerned" onlooker reported her to the police and they went to her home to advise her the punishment was inappropriate, Banghead

....and, albeit slightly off topic, a bloody 'road narrows sign' that I had carefully installed only last week on the track down to 'The Swamp' for safety reasons.
Some useless gormless thieving bastard has only gone and nicked it, presumably one of the paintballing customers next door to me. Arse wiping cretinous tit'ed
It'll make a nice frisbie to chuck off the local motorway bridge no doubt. evil:

There is only one answer .... Bring back basic discipline, in schools, at home, in the courts, even conscription. Without discipline you will not have self discipline and the problems will increase.

It is - I hope - just a matter of time.

Question is, how much irreparable damage will have to be done to force it back?   Kids are transgressing the limits of civilisation already. Murder, torture, theft and drugs are everyday matters to them. We all stand around and mutter timidly about whether we should punish them with a free laptop or a Caribbean holiday or simply ignore it because it's all too much trouble.

I've said before that the pendulum must swing back sooner or later ~ unfortunately it seems to have got stuck.  cussing:
