The world would be so much better without us tis true.....in fact you should consider making this place a men only club, then you could be free to talk about whatever you want to without interruption, perspective or tolerance  rubschin:

One thing to avoid.

If you have an SSD installed don't ever ever de-frag it!

An who? confused:

Talk I.T numpty talk will you man! evil:

Sorry Growler, just a general comment.

Solid State DRIVE! not disk.

Still not proven technology and a large number have been prone to die, similar to the "the Click of Death" problem that Zip drives went through.
Not for your machine anyway.
Quick improvement is always more RAM, faster drive or faster chip. What's the model? Tag number?

S'ok mate. BM has explained  it all now anyways.

I'll have to get the owld users destructions out to find that other info out.
Never heard of a tag number before tbh. confused:

At least it seems to be working ok again now anyway.
Been a damned good machine (Dell)  this imo., especially when you consider the number of times I've twatted it in me rage too like.

Tag number is a 5 or 6 digit letter/number identification code that should be on the casing somewhere. Type it into the Dell support site and you get all the info you need for upgrades/drivers  etc. Also original config, date shipped etc.

Dell are the tops for this kind of info.

You can also get the number from the BISO settings (access at boot time) and sometimes by getting the Dell site to find it for you.
I do have some Dell bits and pieces that may or may not be useful.

Having looked at the original spec the only thing you can really do with this machine is to increase the RAM.
