G Jnr still hasn't found a full time permanent job after all these months.

Dozens of applications, followed  soul destroying energy enthusiasm sapping rejection replies....if he's lucky.
Now there's a shortage of PCV drivers in the UK, so I offered to lend him the money to train to gain his licence, which he has nearly completed. Driving test this coming Monday.
The great news is that their is a very strong chance of a full time job if he passes too, fairly good basic wage for an19 yr old (£7.60ph) excellent higher rates for working Sundays and bags of overtime, driving all over some very scenic routes in and around and all over N.Wales and Cheshire and Shropshire.

He most dismayingly (to me) reluctantly dragged himself off this morning, and when I asked what the matter was, he replied, "this is really just a job for old  fat short smokers" eeek:

I could openly weep.
Why did I actually bother offering to help? Cost me £1200, and heaven only knows if I'll ever seeit back if he either fails on Monday, or simply decided ge doesn't want the job.

Anyone got a rope please? cry:

If It is any consolation, my eldest came to me after 20 years and said thanks for pushing him in the right direction.

However, you can kiss goodbye to the course fee.  noooo:

I am reminded that Snoopy said the other day that the THW had given him childrearing advice. What is it with kids of that age?

TBH, I'm not actually that bothered about the dosh. It'll just mean less for him when the big black bus arrives for me, but he has promised to pay me back when he's in full time employment. Whatever. ::)
Same applies to the money I lent my eldest for the installation of a new combi boiler last summer when I discovered he'd been boiling kettles instead for 6 months! eeek:

Breaks my heart and stings like HELL seeing my kids suffer, but hurts and stings even more when a gilt edged opportunity is produced on a plate, and it's seemingly being sneered at as some sort of poor fat elderly smoking mans option with no street cred attached. noooo:
When the opportunity regarding employment was being discussed earleir this week, he apparently asked would there be any part time vacancies  eeek: eeek: so he could go back to college to study for extra GCSE's. noooo:
Apparently, he wants to be a Paramedic now.  ::)

Why the hell really do I bother?

Only comfort is that I seem to have done more than anyone else has offered, but I'm becoming extremely dis-heartened.

Why? Since when have you needed a class 1 72 seater bus licence to drive an ambulance? eeek:
Correct me if I'm wrong on that one, but i thought an ambulance could have been driven on a standard car licence tbh? confused:

I dunno. But I guess ambuwlans drivers have to go on special courses anyhoo.

What a bloody waste of 2 years hard studying at Horticultural college THAT'S now turned out to be. Banghead

P'raps he could come down and drive trailer loads of turnips to market for DS? rubschin:

I'm sure they do, but a standard car licence is all that's required iirc?
Still, I suppose it's something to add to your qualifications and CV.
Shows a bit of self help and enterprise i suppose? Shrugs:

I've got a PCV (old school PSV actually) licence, but haven't used it for 14 years, but it's nice to know that it's there, medical pass permitting, if required.

Larry the Lamb shoud be home any time now, with more gloomy comments and sarcasm to brighten up my increasingly gloomy year so far.
I genuinely feel like having a little sob tbh.
