Usual load of old bollix about how we can trust them, they have our best interests at heart and they will never do anything wrong.  ::)

Oh ~ unless the LAW in whichever country they choose to obey tells them otherwise.

rubschin: I did read them through ~ You know when you ring some company or bank and a voice keeps saying "Your call is important to us" and you know that to be a lie? .... Well that's pretty much the impression I got from Google. We are important to them but actually they are too big to give a fat rat's arse what we think. Their policies are designed to cover their own arses and that's what it's all about. They will gather information, as they see fit, about our personal use of Google with all that implies (their reach is long), they will look at our buying habits, our preferences for searches, the equipment we use and promise take all possible steps to safeguard it BUT if any court anywhere tells them to spill the beans they can and will comply. Given how easily they caved in to Chinese demands to block content and how the Yanks in particular think that the www belongs to them and how Google and Yahoo etc are in thrall to the CIA, FBI etc I fear for a free future for the system. Unfortunately, as Google well know, they are now in a position to do pretty much what they like and we have nowhere else to turn. So Yah Boo sucks to you Joe Public ..... You will continue to use us no matter what and if we feel like sharing the information we gather about you ...... Well Tough Shit!

PS: This link demonstrates that I am not alone in thinking as I do. It is not a long article and won't take you long to read it.
