OK, just to establish the picture . . .
Way back in late '91 I buggered the disc between L4 and L5 (Lumbar vertebrae 4 and 5) - something that was Kipling painful!
Over the intervening years I've managed to survive by being Kipling careful what movements to make and how to make them - e.g. NOT using a Flymo mower!
18 months's ago, it had gotten worserer so I hies off to the quacktors. He sends me orff to the horsepickle physio peeps. They say they can't really help.
So now they sends me for an MRI which clearly shows a thin white line where there should have been 10 to 12 mm of disc!

Upshot is that they go for 'radio-frequency de-nervation' of the nerves handling pain signals from the 'facet joints' (sticky out bits on the rear of your vertebrae which stop your spine behaving like a slinky!
That's given me about nine relatively pain free months, but, recently things have gone back to how they were.
Now lots of Kipling painful days and the 'pins and needles' accompanied by loss of power in the legs has returned.
About to make a Quacktor's appointment to start over - planning to ask about
this new treatment A long road beckons methinks . . .
