New cunning cold call tactics

I know I've mentioned this in other threads but registering with the TPS is going to be the most effective way of blocking these calls. It will take up to 28 days to become fully effective (depending on how frequently the call centres update their DNC lists) but after that the only ones that should be able to contact you will already have a prior business relationship with you.

TPS registration is number specific so you will have to do each number individually to make sure you are covered. After that, whenever you fill in any application forms or suchlike make sure you read the wording of the tick if you do not wish to receive box to make sure it isn't actually tick if you do. A number of companies use that trick now as very few people actually read the spiel before ticking the box.

If any companies cold call you afterwards I would recommend  telling them you are on TPS and to stop calling you but to also put in a data source request so you can find out where they got the information from. If your details have come from a data supply firm then contact them directly asking why they are giving your number out despite being on TPS and tell them to add you to their suppression list.

But I don't think it's going to work for us as we have some seriously elderly rellies that get confused just by us answering the phone

TPS used to work, it does not now as these companies just ignore it.  The rarely imposed fines seem to be less than the revenue gained.  Hanging up is no deterrent to these bastards - that's just advanced sucker filtering to them.  Hanging on the line at least costs them something.

I was thinking of some sort of going along with them for a while in an evil plan that starts with them dialling a £40 a minute premium rate line, moves onto all their operators losing everything via identity theft and then their premises being razed to the ground with only their most senior staff suffering nasty deaths
