Ok as many of you will have seen on Face ache the bloke is on one about glass partitions (frosted , trellised or whatever ) being used in hotel rooms to separate the bathroom from the room.

On this trip we have stayed in 3 hotels which has had a similar set up. Apparently no bloke would be happy with this 

The last hotel had a big window in the bathroom so you could still watch telly in the other room . Though it did have a blind you could pull down for privacy.

This current room also has a phone by the toilet which apparently is also equally offensive.

For me if a room doesn't have a bath / shower combo I am a bit gutted. I like plenty of wirktop space in a bathroom. Fridge space so I can store my locally bought drinks and not be filled to the brim with mini bar stuff at prices you can only laugh at.

I like a safe so I dont have to carry my worldy goods around with me and I like free wifi.

Bathroom should have its own TV tile screen.  Phone is good but for receiving calls only.  A Hyatt hotel I know of has a bloody ethernet socket by the loo  .  Idealy Wifi should not work in the bathroom.

And why I may ask only one bathroom?   We once had one with two AND a walk-in dressing room (for just $59 - long story) and Mrs K feels that should now be the standard.

Safe is getting to be an essential but must be able to take a notebook AND iPad AND proper camera

Anyway our joint Mr and Mrs K list in decreasing order of mustness

Door and Window(s) you can lock
B³ (Bed, Bog and Bath/Shower) that are clean and work and suitably private
Ability to phone (hotel owners that jam mobile phones should be shot - repeatedly)
No cockroaches crawling all over your alarm clock (another story)
No lizards crawling across the ceiling (same story)
Clean floor
Good lighting
Hotel supplied and replenished flannels
Walls thick enough to not hear everything in the next room
Somewhere to put your toothbrushes
Somewhere to store and hang clothes
Working space and yes space in the bathroom
Safe
WiFi
Decent free paper hankies
Hairdryer
Fridge
TV as long as the bloody remote works
Somewhere to sit
Dressing gowns
Cooking space and stuff
In room coffee maker (who'd ever really trust them))

Oh yes somewhere to sit ( sofa or comfy chair ) was on the blokes list.

Tea and Coffee making facilities should be standard. In this hotel they have a fancy pants coffee making machine but want to charge 2 dollars for every pod used !!!!

I also like the provision of full length white fluffy dressing gowns

never stay at a hotel where they are hosting the teams for the Minnesota under 18 basketball championships.   Bouncing balls up and down the corridors screaming their effin heads off all sodding night    If only I'd had an Uzi

I try to avoid hotels with kids at all these days   A few years ago I took my daughter and 2 kids to Scotland and was staying in a hotel overnight after visiting dad in a home.  Her youngest 1 at the time screamed for 2 hours I was so annoyed I bundled them in the car and drove them home 5 hours It was not fair on the other guests IMHO Within a mile of setting off she went to sleep never again
