never seen that 2,738 figure before, I knew many died that last day but never knew it was that many  noooo:

But what to say, it was a different time and of course there's a difference between an armistice/cease fire and a peace treaty.  Many at the time thought that Germany would restart hostilities once they'd had a couple to weeks to recover.

So it seems evil that so many died that last day but it's the 17 million in the 4 years before that's most appalling

Yes we should always remember

But of course not all do.  The Italian run cafe we were in at 11 duly turned off the music at 11 so it could be observed by most of us but the ~60 year old Brit couple near us kept jabbering away.    cussing:

Well, whatever, nevermind

Sad .... noooo:  I remember in the 70s ,my father lived in Pimlico near Mall etc . ..everything used to stop including traffic...it was a surreal experience ....

to be in the middle of London and be silent ... noooo:

But as society has gone to shite ..I am not surprised...when we do weddings ..most cannot be bothered to listen to speeches (get phones out)...and that is THEIR family/friends speaking ...!!!!!!.... noooo:
