Computer Problems
« on: September 25, 2007, 07:49:03 AM »
Don't ask me what but we had minor network and internet problems at work last week cumulating in a complete crash yesterday afternoon. Nothing worked and even the phone system gave up for a while.

Very frustrating as everything is here is geared to constant computer access. It's working at the moment but the problem, whatever it is, has not been resolved despite the I.T. guys working all night.

I foresee a day of fraying tempers ending in computer rage.

It'll have to be a real pub as the connection here is liable to go down at any moment.  eastdrink048

The time to really panic is when the boss sends someone out for a supply of pencils and lined foolscap pads.
Half the office will not know what do do with them.

Servers came back lunchtime so I could get on with some work. The internet took a bit longer and we're holding the Cisco engineer to ransom until we are certain.

EVERYONE seems to be having computer/network problems these last few days.

Mine's been playing hell, the Council's is down. virtually every user I know is down to some degree only idiots don't seem to have problems.

Common rumour is that there was a 'compulsory' OS upgrade issued by M$ last weekend that overrode all systems that had denied automatic updates causing havoc and - perversely - all the idiots that had auto update switched on escaped unscathed.

The latest batch of failures seem to accord with those structuring their updates.

Given that Moronsoft's attitude to people who turn auto update off is that they have pirated copies of their software its a feasible rumour. Personally I wouldnt put it past them to pull something like that.
