Didn't he originally say that it was in his pocket and went off accidentally?

That seemed a bit far-fetched at the time of reading. Had that been the case, then all he would have succeeded in achieving (in all probability) is shooting of his wedding tackle!

Our problem is that we are trying to apply commonsense and logic to all this.
