Using another phone
« on: April 04, 2008, 06:54:20 PM »
I thought I could just take my sim card out of my poxy Nokia N73 that's been nothing but trouble, and too complicated and fiddly, and shove it in the simple Nokia that mini moose has just stopped using.
No it seems.
What have I got to do then? Unlock it or something? How and where if that's the case? confused:

Usually cost about £10 to unlock a phone. You can do it online. Or take it to back street phone shop.

Is that all it needs then? Unlocking? Do I need a new sim card?

If the phone is unlocked it should take any SIM card. Technically I think you have to prove the phone is yours etc.

Technically they aren't supposed to do it because these days phones are tied to networks. However, as previously said unlocking is easy and cheap. The mobile phone guy at our local market does ours.

Couple of daft questions Wenchy, first whats wrong with your N73 and second is it still under guarrantee?

If it isnt under guarrantee I may have a fix for it.

Expect a visit from Inspector Nick of the apostrophe police.

Alright, Growler's phone problems could be down to the phone's firmware. The Networks tend to use their own updates but if you know what you are doing you can get the latest one directly from Nokia and bypass the network provider.

This means more funtionality and better bug fixes

You just have to know how to remove the network branding (not the same as unlocking the phone).

It's a fair cop.
