Well, I did watch it last night and yes, I think my decision was the right one. Of the many things which made me grimace there was one which reminded me of an occasion some years ago.

There's a very good reason why perfumers appear to be 'smelling' the perfume in a poncey and wafty sort of way. I was with some clients trying out possible juices at a perfume house and, much like the apprentices, they were sniffing away holding the taper under their noses. After about forty minutes it was time to take a break and one of the female clients stood up from her chair and promptly fell flat on her back as her legs gave way  ;D
There's a lot of neat alcohol in those samples  ;)

I thought it was interesting that a bunch of hopeless losers could knock up a fragrance, bottle and advertising campaign in three days… makes you realise what big business and high margin stuff it is…

Three days! Agreed  happy001 happy001

The reality is more like 18 months at best. The idea of drawing up a design to scale, accurately for proposed fill, model making and full graphic dressing is a nightmare which I'm so glad I stepped back from. I think the 3 day thing was a sham seeing as I was asked about it 2 months ago, but let's leave that one aside.

What I found particularly telling was that it was the designer who suggested the idea of the 2-part bottle - and they all denied participation in that finally - and that was the Achilles Heel of the project.
It was the CEO of Givenchy who said there's no way that design could come in at the price point of £29.95. Basically the designer screwed it for that team, and the apprentices were too naive to see it.
