The Boy got sick in Spain about 2 years ago, went to doctor and produced the E111.He laughed and demanded ?50 for a five min consultation, We paid.

So how the fook do Chinese students get Free NHS treatment?WHat the fook are E111 cards worth? We still have to buy travel insurance  cussing: cussing: cussing: cussing:

It is a EHIC  card now (European Health Insurance Card) and has been for some time. The E111 was phased out some time ago as of 1 January 2006 and would not have been valid.

I used mine at a Dr's surgery over Christmas in Spain without a single problem.  shrugs:

I used it at the hospital last Summer without issue too.

When I suffered a cardiac arrest in Paris I was defibrillated (5 times) back to life by paramedics and spent 10 days in hospital. Whilst in hosp I received the most advanced cardiac care available including surgery, I had a room to myself and 24 hour personal nursing. A physiotherapist was deployed to help my breathing as I also had a bad cold. a telephone was by my bed and I could call home to the UK each evening. The hospital a scoured to find English speaking staff who could explain the technical matters that my french was not capable of translating (consent forms for operation etc). On return to the ukI was sent a bill for 500ff (£50) to cver the cost of my food. All medical treatment ws done on the E111

Why my font has suddenly changed I have no idea. I am using the Asus on Linux.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

E111 forms were only valid for the year in which they were stamped anyway if I recall correctly. Also once used you required a new one. I used to acquire a new form on every trip back to Spain.

I also think there was only a six month overlap between forms and cards. I don't know anyone who has ever had any problems using theirs. I also question whether you actually attended a state surgery and not a private practitioner. I know that I can't visit my preferred doctor in Spain anymore because he isn't state covered.

Ours were free! The last time we filled out an E111 form we ticked the box saying we would like cards too and they just arrived!  eeek:
