Ah don't tink sooooooo!
I don't usually just paste a link but that is just too humungous to post the whole thing.
I did notice that our local Labour Trougher is well up the stakes in housing allowances etc but then it is a fvck of a long way to commute daily from Rhyl.
I favour a flat rate accommodation allowance for all with more than a fifty mile journey to make. Most of those I worked with in the City (OK Holborn) travelled that distance by car and got into the office each day by 8 am and left about 12 hours later. If you time it right you miss most of the traffic and get home by about 9 to 9.30. I did spend some 6 months commuting by car from Ipswich (85 miles) but that was a bit too far and really piled the miles on the car + of course meant facing the dreaded A12 morning and night.
No ~ a flat rate accommodation allowance (they already get subsidised meals in the HoP) of £50 a day should cover it. B&B is available in London (of an acceptable quality) for that sort of money ..... payable only on those days when they actually attend the house. Travel warrants for rail travel to and from home are already available to them on application and other expenses should be covered by production of a receipt and, if necessary, an explanation.
