Referendum on how we want to Government to run?
« on: May 26, 2009, 07:43:07 AM »
So the big idea to get themselves out of the sh*t is to have us vote on the various options that every loony in Parliament can dream up  noooo:

One such that is being touted is that we should have a "Fixed Term Parliament". The BBC have leapt on this as an A1 Plan it seems and every "pundit" is advocating how this would make SUCH a difference to the way we are governed. The plan seems that we should follow the US pattern and have a fixed term of 4 years.
WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE KIDDING?

It may have escaped their notice but we are not all fools. We already have a fixed term of five years between elections and no government may overrun that time. They can however be forced from office sooner (if they lose a vote of no confidence of the HoP for example) and, if they so wish, they may opt to end their term of office before the five years is up.
Give them the "Fixed term" they are asking for and we will be stuck with the b@st@rds the same way the Yanks are. Only Impeachment or assassination can rid them of a President who proves to be a disaster (or at least a wrong 'un in the eyes of someone) and nothing at all can rid them of the Senate or the House of Representatives in between the fixed election times - no matter how bad things get.

IMHO changing the rules to allow a "Fixed term" parliament of the type the troughers are currently advocating will simply guarantee them immunity to do whatever they want for that term without any chance of dislodging them.

Only now, with a defeat of mind boggling propotions staring them in the face are they thinking about re-arranging the trough... Utter, utter bastards all of them - including the BBC.  cussing:

It only really needs one change. To give constituencies the right to sack their MP if/when they prove to be an incompetent, 2 faced, lying, corrupt, bone idle fuckwit.
The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.
