Fuel duty to rise from midnight
A two pence rise in fuel duty will come into effect from midnight, the third increase in nine months.

And don't forget that VAT goes back up to 17.5% soon and that means this increase in fuel prices will increase again by 2.5%

Meanwhile Alistair Darling says "We must live within our means".

OK if those means include ?64k pa MP's salary, a ministerial allowance and unquestioned expenses for travel, food, accommodation etc etc.

Any of the self employed here tried to get claims past the Inland Revenue without receipts on the grounds that the amounts are less than ?250?
But employed MP's can.  cussing:
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.
