The week I started this I got work at Mrs TG's place so I had to let it slide. I shall have another go in the new year as I shall be able to use the NHS software training programme for this even if I am not working there as they will keep me on the books as an 'on call' temp.

There is a hell of a lot of non-clinical systems IT training available through this, anything from ECDL to 'buying a new PC'. All free if you are an NHS employee.

Yesterday I tried calling the local college as they were listed as a test centre. After many attempts to reach customer services I resorted to calling reception. They informed me that the customer service team were doing some training! They couldn't be arsed to leave a voice response or re-direct incoming calls like most sensible would.

Anyway called them today and found that they aren't a test centre anymore.

Most of the test centres want to see the testees (as opposed to testis you understand) actually attending for at least some of the course.
The gaining of the Certificate is as much about attendance as it is about actual ability. All test centres now appear to want to "assess" candidates and then tell them how many "lessons" they need to attend.

None of the test centres in this borough actually run any courses.

That doesn't alter the facts of my submission your honour.
Go to one of your many test centres and I have no doubt they will wish to carry out an initial assessment and then tell you where to get the recommend number of lessons.

I have been using this guide.

After yesterday getting nowhere with the college, I tried another site which appeared to be part of one of the local schools, but is located in one of the old manor buildings in the park nearby.
man was very helpful but said they were about to move to the new syllabus and that they would call me back some time next week.
Went out for luch and on my return, had an email from this man saying that they were only able to do testing of teachers, so no help there.

Gubmint priorities innit.
"They" have decreed that all teechers MUST obtain this qualification and Gubmint (ie you and me) will pick up the hooooge bill. If you were providing the training etc and were already dependent on public money what would you do?
