Theatre themed day in London
We make our way to Borough and I march him along the road talking about late medieval and early modern theatre. We arrive here:
http://www.elizabethan-era.org.uk/george-inn.htm I carefully point out that canny actor managers would get inspiration from its design for the first purpose built theatres in a millennium or more.
We proceed to Park Street and gaze upon the site of the original Globe before crossing the road to the rediscovered Rose. I talk about Richard Burbage.

A short film is followed by a passionate account of the theatre by a hyper enthusiasitc Canadian woman of around 30. We discuss the theatre and Shakespeare's involvement, the Henslowe papers and the brief life of Marlowe
Verdict: "She was quite fit. If she was a bit younger, I would!"
We go for coffee. "I want to move to London. It's full of fit girls."
We attend the Globe for the 2.00 performance of Measure for Measure where we are surrounded by a large group of young, slim blonde American girls.
After 3 hours standing we proceed to Shaftesbury Avenue for some information about post Restoration theatrical revival and Victorian thatrical blossoming.
We head for Soho for a pizza
"Chinese girls are quite fit."
The pizza place has many viewing mirrors which permit the Boy to keep a careful eye on fellow diners. Especially the redheads.
I talk about his UCAS personal statement. He checks out the waitress.
We stagger to Covent Garden for some modern street entertainers. The Boy admires her legs.
Finally, EUston. I have bought him a cheapo first class ticket for the trip to Scallypool. "Will I get my own serving girl?"
Isn't education wonderful?
