Court hearings and relevant information
« on: May 18, 2011, 07:23:45 AM »
The murder trial of Milly Dowler is ongoing at the moment and her mother collapsed in court yesterday after trudging up all this information about her daughter, that she was unhappy, potentially depressed , hated herself and her family , found her father's porn stash etc. Completely feckin irrelevant.

She was a 13 year old girl - all perfectly normal for a teenage girl.  Fears that she was not pretty enough , had to fit in with her friends, sibling rivalryand the concept of her parents having sex ....all totally bloody normal.

But how traumatic for her family. To have to go through this experience and then to have their whole family cohesion questioned but for why???

This girl was abducted , walking home from school. She  had not run away. She had not started talking to this evil bastard on the internet because she was lonely or depressed or being abused. She was not doing anything out of character on that day. Went to school and hung out with her friends afterwards , got some chips and started to walk home . Except she never made it home.

I just fail to see how dragging up her normal teenage angst goes to prove anything except hurt this family all over again.

Defence lawyers will go to any lengths to get their clients off .... even when they (the lawyers) believe that their clients are guilty. The only exception is if the client admits their guilt to the lawyer when the lawyer is bound to either tell the Judge or simply walk away from the case and keep quiet about the confession.
Muddying the waters seems to be about the best chance this particular lawyer has of defending his client.
Yes I agree ~ it is wrong .... but that is how the system works.

This is not about whether he did it or not .... it is about who is the 'better' lawyer.

Fair enough Snoops, but do the papers have to be so salcious in the reporting of the case.
I wonder sometimes what the world is coming to.
I couldn't ask for better friends. I could ask for more NORMAL friends, but not better ones.

I regret that the British Media are all tarred with the same brush .... until it is they that get caught out. Show me a journalist who says they have never got drunk, never sampled drugs (soft or hard), never viewed porn and never taken a back-hander or fiddled their expenses and I'll show you a liar.

At least the French press leave such matters out of it and concentrate on the more gory side of things...... But then they have (i) A non adversarial judicial system and (ii) A decent privacy law that they respect, mainly because they know it protects them as well as the 'ordinary people'.

One of my Faceache friends work with Millie Dowler's mum for about 20 years and posted the other day about the case. This was before the bondage stuff came out  Banghead

I agree entirely with MIss D and Snoopy: the former about teenage angst, the latter about the role of defence lawyers.....
