Christmas Treats
« on: December 17, 2011, 07:55:35 AM »
POSH shop Harvey Nichols has been blasted for selling REINDEER pâté as a Christmas treat.

Labels on the Ł15 tins boast that the meat comes from a "farm-raised relative of Rudolph".

But animal rights group Viva! accused the department store of trying to make a quick buck.

Campaigns manager Justin Kerswell said: "Harvey Nichols may be mostly full of festive cheer, but that doesn't extend to Santa's traditional animal helpers.

"What kind of sicko would relish cracking open a tin of reindeer pâté come Christmas Day? And what kind of store would think it appropriate to sell it?

"We are calling on them to withdraw sales of reindeer pâté and for all consumers to have a cruelty-free veggie Christmas."

The 190g tins, made by London company Edible, say the pâté comes from "selected cuts of reindeer, seasoned with cognac and spices". It is described as an "Arctic delicacy and indulgent Christmas treat".
