Golf caddies

Why is Tiger Woods sacking his caddy news ?

Forgive my ignorance I know little or care little about golf but surely he is just his golf bitch.  Carrying his clubs wherever he is asked.

What nonsense is this talk of ending a valued partnership blah.....what am I missing about the role of a caddy ?  rubschin:

You clearly don't understand the relationship twixt golfer and caddy.

Also ANYTHING that Mr Woods does is "news" 'cos the press just lurve doing him down at the moment.

So what is the role of the Caddy , apart from being a mule ?

Do they decide what whacky stick to use, surely that is the choice of the professional.

Perhaps they decide what hideous outfit they should wear ?

They offer advice on club selection, know the course inside out so that they can tell the player the distance from any given point to the green, which way a ball is likely to swing when hit, they also organise transport, food etc and help with spotting errors that creep into a player's game. Basically they manage a pro golfer's tournament for them. They do a lot more than carry the clubs ..... a wheeled cart could do that bit.

Mostly the hideous outfits are worn for $$$$$ reward as they are provided by the sponsors.

"Those that can, do,
Those that can't, teach"

A bit like tennis players having their coach in the crowd, except in that case the coach isn't allowed to coach. A caddy will know every inch of the course, how many yards to the front of the green, how many to the hole, where the bunkers are etc etc, this determines the bat  ;) to be used

Whether his caddy was needed to advise him on every hole he was going for is of course debatable  whistle:
