Arrogant doctors who treat you as though you were a moron

HOw many of us have had this experience and how do we fight back without antagonising the ignorant bastards? You are also in this thread allowed to discuss the problem of nurses who keep you awake all night by chattering to each other about their love lives and stuff as though you weren't even there!     (while you are busy being a patient I hasten to add!)

For a long time when I was 14 I used to get terrible tummy pains.

I went to my doctor at the time several times. The first time I went with my mum and he accused me of being sexually active and this was what was the cause 

He then asked my mum to leave the room and asked me the same question. I told him categorically not 

He did nothing

A few weeks later I was whisked by ambulance to hospital at 3am and had to have emergency surgery for a burst appendix.

I never went back to that doctor

I have always found members of the medical profession to be most attentive, courteous and deferential.

I can handle the arrogance but I get irate when they talk to you as if you're a small child. Nurses especially are very prone to do that.

I tell them "FIRMLY" I am neither deaf nor stupid.

I had one who plonked her fat arse on me bed (and me leg) and started to fill out her forms. "Now what should we call you .... what do they call you at home?"

I replied "Daddy mainly ~ but you can call me Mr Snoopy or Sir"

She ran away 


No doctor has ever called me anything but Mr so why should the fecking nurses want to get familiar? Cheeky mares ~ I have children older than them.




PS Come to that I have children older than most of the doctors.

When the FiL was in hospital and known to be reaching the end a nurse sat on his bed ~ he kicked her. She then tried to discover if he was "aware".

Do you know who the Prime Minister is?" she asked brightly

"Yes"

"Do you know what day it is today?"

"Yes"

"Do you know who I am?"

"No but you are annoying me .... go away and let me finish my crossword"
