wEBCAM woes

Can't figure out how to turn the camera on on my compooter. Urgent help required as I have to take a pic of myself  cussing:

Mine has a picture of a little camera on the top line of buttons.

That is on my Asus Notebook.

The HP has similar.

When I start the Asus it gives a range of options. Click on "Play" and then "Webcam"

Alternatively try Cntrl and webcam button together.

Thinking about it when I logged onto Skype using the HP laptop it asked of I wanted to include a picture in my profile. I clicked yes and the camera started of its own accord and took the picture.
