I do believe this is the thin end of the wedge. Many are getting exasperated and are failing to hold back their emotions now.
I suspect we are going to see more of this as time goes by and meanwhile, those in power keep the floodgates open. eeek:

Yes we need proper qualified professionals from abroad, mainly for the NHS, but as i said earlier, just how many more bloody street corner car washes do we need, how many more taxi drivers, bus drivers, how many more waiters, how many more plumbers and builders?

I'll tell you how many.....BLOODY TENS if not HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS if 95% of this cheap and probably illegal workforce were to piss off back to their own countries.

You do gooders spouting off at us all...GET A BLOODY GRIP before it's too late.

[serious] I take a different view. I agree that immigration has gone mad, but the Daily Fail stories are, as always'alarmist. I know your cubs are working. There are now, we hear 1 million young unemployed people in the country. Why? My great niece and her BF from Australia came her 18 months ago and will turn their hand to anything. They are articulate, personable and willing. They have not been unemployed for one day since arriving here. They have worked shops, caffs, hotels, waitering, engineering jobs and contract work in Germany. They have worked in ski chalets and bars throughout Europe. Why? COs they get of their arses and do what is necessary. They generally work with East Europeans who are equally willing to work split shifts and all hours.......[serious]

No need for serous mode ~ this is the Commons after all   cool14:

My niece and her best buddy from Tasmania showed a comparable grasp of the situation when they arrived here last year. Accommodation and jobs sorted within a week, constantly in work and with enough money to spend to go off on city breaks into Europe. Both now doing degrees at University and knowing them will come through it having paid their way. They are by no means exceptional for young Aussies, but they seem to be exceptional in this country now.

On the racist rant issue, APC asked why now? This rant was posted earlier in the year wasn't it? That being the case it's another media whip-up from what's increasingly become the world's worst national press.
This kind of rant is actually quite common, well if you live round here it is. Mostly they're publicly derided and laughed off as nutters ~ much the same as Clarkson's comments should be considered as colourful figures of speech - not literal.
That said it's bloody unpleasant being the butt of racist comments. I was told by a nasty jobsworth, hotel security officer to "Go back to fvckin' America, Yankee shit!" whilst in Tehran. The Iranians I was with were extremely embarrassed and apologised profusely.

I was about 2 feet taller than your average Mexican and conspicuously (then) blond. That equalled American for them and I was on the receiving end of some long Spanish rants  sad32:
