I would also hazard that, should we have insufficient rain until next summer, the drought may well last beyond next summer.

Oh they already have flood warnings out in various parts of the country ......just not in the right places and anyway even if it does rain in the right place the ground is soooooooooo dry the rain will not penetrate.
